THE ABOVE IMAGE IS THE MAIZE GOD. WHY DID THE AZTECS WORSHIP MAIZE? MAIZE WAS A LIFE SOURCE TO THE AZTEC, JUST AS COWS ARE TO THE INDIANS WHO WORSHIP THEM.  ( HTTP://HOME.FREEUK.NET/ELLOUGHTON13/AZTECGOD.HTML)

CHINAMPA

Chinampa is a adaptation to farming that the Aztecs used.  Because of Chinampa the farmers in MesoAmerica managed to farm in marshes and difficult land.  They used small rectangular areas and built up the soil on the lakes in Mexico.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinampa)

CHASQUI

The chasquis (prounonced chaskis) show above, were the messengers of the Inca empire.  Deliveries were made through paths and bridges the Inca built.  Their infrastructure was comparable to the Romans because of how developed and strong the bridges and roads were.  Some are still standing.   The chasquis were athletic and were responsible for delivery of the quipus, messages, and packages.  They would run 1  1/2 miles to  meet the next chasquis who would take the message, etc...Quipus are shown in the picture here being held.  The strings were used to record information using a 10 place system.  Quipus were used to record information about people living in Inca land, military information, and information about crops.

GEOGRAPHY OF MESOAMERICA

Mesoamerica was a section of North America that was located from Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, ElSalvador, Nicaraqua, and Northern Costa Rica.  This developed area was a thriving pre-Columbian society prior to Spanish colonization, and the genocide there in the 16th century.  (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoameri  Maps:  http://imagine-mexico.com/native-maps-of-the-americas/)
